Register for the fall deer hunt before September 1

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is reminding eligible disabled hunters who wish to participate in the 2021 White-tailed Deer Hunt for Disabled Hunters to contact a hunt sponsor to register by September 1.

According to a press release, nearly 90 sponsors have registered thousands of acres of land across the state for this year’s hunt which will take place October 2-10, 2021. To participate in the 2021 hunt, hunters should contact the sponsors directly.

“We are grateful to the sponsors who provide opportunities for hunters with disabilities,” said Wes Ellarson, MNR’s deputy big game ecologist. “Giving hunters access to this land is essential to making the fall hunt a success and continuing Wisconsin’s deer hunting tradition.”

Eligible hunters can register for one property per year and must have a deer hunting license.

Hunters or assistants should contact sponsors directly to register for a hunt and provide their name, contact information and MNR client identification number. To be eligible, hunters must hold a valid Class A, C or D license or a Class B license issued for more than one year, authorizing shooting from a stationary vehicle.
