Pets of the Week: Kim has big orange eyes. Luisa is full of sparkling energy

JACKSON, MI — The Jackson County Animal Shelter, 3770 Spring Arbor Road, has many pets available for adoption.

Here are two.

Luisa is a 2 year old American Staffordshire mixed dog who was abandoned by her owner. When she comes out of her kennel, she is full of bubbly energy and happy to see everyone. Luisa seems to get along with other dogs, she loves children and is clean.

Kim is a solid black cat who is 2 years old and was also abandoned by her owner. She is smaller, friendly and has a great purr motor. The first thing you’ll notice about Kim are her big orange eyes.

An encounter with a dog is mandatory. A guided chat room tour is available to test the reaction. The dog adoption fee is $150 for medium and large dogs and $250 for puppies and small dogs, which includes vaccinations, microchipping and neutering.

Cat adoption fees are $60 for one cat, $80 for two, which includes applicable tests, vaccines, and neutering.

It’s always best to visit the shelter, but other adoption resources include online applications at faxing 517-780-4750 or emailing [email protected]

The shelter’s current hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
