Pet of the Week: Zeus

LebTown offers a different Lebanon County animal every Friday to help us approach the weekend with the best vibes possible.

The pet of the week will sometimes be a local furbaby who already lives in a happy home in Lebanon County. On other occasions, the column will highlight an animal that is available for adoption at a local shelter and is looking for a forever family.

This week, meet Zeus!

Zeus is a Cane Corso mix “who likes to play with toys, bask in the sun and get all the attention” from his people, says a rep for the shelter. He was released to the shelter in April, the shelter noted, and was “pretty sad and confused” for some time.

But the 3-year-old pup bounced back after receiving lots of “love, food, exercise and attention” from shelter staff and volunteers.

According to the Zeus Puppy Profile, “I love getting out in the yard and running around while I chew on my toys. I can be nervous at first with strangers, but it doesn’t take long for me to warm up and like you. I would be fine in a home with someone who has experience with my breed.

His profile adds, “Since I’m such a big boy and can play rough sometimes, I’d do better in a house with older kids if possible. I love getting treats from people every time they see me and I’ll bring you back my toys… after I throw them away. I try to exercise and stay in shape!”

Zeus generally gets along with other dogs, but the shelter says anyone looking to expand their family should schedule a meeting with Zeus to make sure it’s right for them.

“Zeus is a big, playful guy looking for a forever family to help him unwind, trust and love again,” a spokesperson for the shelter said. “He likes the simple pleasures of life. Company, affection, boundaries and stability are what he needs. Are you up to Zeus? »

If you would like to learn more about Zeus or make an appointment to meet him, please contact the Humane Society at (717) 628-1369 or visit the online shelter at for more information on the adoption process.

PS Great news! We are happy to announce that Eloise and Nix, a pair of adorable kittens featured as LebTown’s Pets of the Week on July 15th, have been adopted! Congratulations to this dynamic duo!

Eloise shivers as Nix gets a chin massage from a Humane Society volunteer.
