BIG JAB Sports Radio Expands Local Programming With New Noon Sports Show

Atlantic Coast Radio is pleased to announce that it has added a third live, local sports show to its programming on BIG JAB Sports Radio WJJB (96.3 and 92.5 FM). Starting Wednesday, December 1, “Middays with Mannix and Mannix,” hosted by Mainers natives Jeff and Taylor Mannix, will air weekdays from 10 am to 2 pm. With this addition to the station’s weekday programming, BIG JAB Sports Radio will be Maine’s only “live and local” sports station, broadcasting local telephone programming every weekday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

According to Atlantic Coast Radio Managing Director Jon Van Hoogenstyn, “A local noon show has been a long-standing request from many of our in-car listeners and we’ve responded. As a local and independent broadcaster in Maine, we believe in the “live and local” calling formula. Our listeners are passionate, loyal and committed to our programming. The call format gives members of our local and regional sports fan community a chance to engage in a conversation about something they love. For many, it’s an escape from the chaos that surrounds us and we’ve seen this connection demand increase as we come out of the pandemic and the sport has returned. ”

According to a Nielsen report, sports content continues to thrive with 23 million Americans tuning in to sports radio every week. The report states that eight in ten sports radio listeners are educated and well-off.

Van Hoogenstyn goes on to explain that “the larger broadcast entities are cutting out locally sourced programs and replacing live personalities with pre-recorded programs. Our station management is proud and excited to add “Middays with Mannix and Mannix” to our weekday lineup. This is an important differentiator for our station and aligns with our commitment to preserving and advancing the art of local radio programming.

For years, brothers Jeff and Taylor Mannix have built a loyal following with their brand of reporting on Saturday Morning JAB. They join the Morning JAB team of “Shoe and Joe” and “PM JAB Afternoon with Javier Goritti” which host local and Boston sports talks all day long. “We have the right team to add to the day mix with Jeff and Taylor,” added Van Hoogenstyn.

BIG JAB Sports Radio’s programming is broadcast on 96.3 and 92.5 FM or live at http://www.thebigjab.com.

Atlantic Coast Radio is a radio group owned locally by longtime broadcasters JJ Jeffrey and Bob “Doc” Fuller. WJJB is Maine’s flagship for the Boston Red Sox, the Boston and Maine Celtics, and with its sister station, WPEI, the Portland Sea Dogs. WLOB features UMaine football and hockey, and for the first time this year, women’s basketball.
